Swimming in the Waters of the Pandemic

Bang Bang Bangus continues to thrive and survive despite economic turmoil

Laban na.
It was a fight of a lifetime when Bang Bang Special Crispy Bangus opened its first store on June 7, 2020. It went through different types of quarantines and fast-changing consumer behavior trends. And so far, the brand remains afloat and
kicking.
Bang Bang Special Crispy Bangus joins the sea of street-side kiosks to provide an alternative take-out food for Filipinos. And while bangus take-outs are usually grilled, at Bang Bang Bangus, they make it crispy and they add their original special flavors to make each product, a unique dish to enjoy.
Since it opened its first store, Bang Bang now has 25 operating stores in Quezon City, Pasig, Mandaluyong, Manila, Makati, San Juan, Taguig, Caloocan (North), Cavite, Laguna, and Batangas. With its growing number of franchisees, Bang Bang Special Crispy Bangus continues to thrive and survive despite the challenges posed by the pandemic.
“We knew that we were going to offer something new to the consumers. But we also knew that there would be tough times ahead. And though it was a scary move—to open a new brand when many businesses were closing down—we had to be confident with this very simple concept that God has entrusted to us,” says Bang Bang’s CEO, Mike Canlas.
Bang Bang specializes in BIG CRISPY BONELESS BANGUS. Each whole bangus weighs 400-450 grams and is good for 2-4 persons. It currently comes in five flavors—Original, Cheese, Inasal, Salted Egg, and Spicy Pares. They also offer Bangus Belly (2 pcs. Bangus belly portions where customers could mix and match their flavors) and Super Combos (Super half bangus + gulay side + rice) to provide a healthy and hearty meal. For super combos, customers could choose their bangus flavor and gulay side dish (laing, pinakbet, and chopsuey).
Bang Bang Bangus uses only HACCP-certified fish that have passed international standards. The fish that they use at Bang Bang are also present in different parts of the world including Europe, USA, and UAE. From the start, the owners have envisioned Bang Bang to be a brand that Filipinos would be proud of, and this is also why they also placed a baybayin mark on their logo.
“We were born in the time of war and this economic situation is the only thing we’ve experienced in this business. We haven’t seen the true potential of the brand yet, so we know that with Bang Bang, the best is yet to come,” says Canlas. For those who’d like to have their own Bang Bang Bangus store, they are also open for franchising.
